Nounja
Edutainment | UX \ UI
Nounja is a children’s edutainment app. While playing through Ninja style games as a sushi character, nouns, adjectives and verbs are learned. This takes the stagnant medium of books that active children have a hard time focusing on, and adds movement, action, and sound. Most importantly though, it provides immediate feedback, rewards, easy navigation and personalization. All of which are formed from user experience and user interface studies.
The use of apps and digital learning has increased in and outside of the classroom as parents want their children prepared for a digital future. However, sit time is not being balanced out with active time. According to the American College of Sports Medicine, children across the globe sit for about 8.5 hours every day, especially after the age of 8. Nounja addresses this balance with a physical game designed to be played outside.
Nounja will not only gain an audience through the education system as it will be free for teachers to download, but also through an app commercial. The app commercial is geared towards a child audience and excites them to find out more.
